01The problem we solve
Intellectual property sits between legal ownership, financial value and commercial execution. Too often, nobody owns the whole picture.
Brands, patents, software, designs, data and domain names can represent a substantial share of a business’s value, yet they are frequently the least understood assets in the room. Lawyers see title. Accountants see a number. Buyers see an opportunity. Lenders see risk.
Intellectual Consultancy brings those perspectives together. We build the capabilities, make the connections and put the right people in place, so that IP is properly valued, realised or financed.
02What we do
Four ways we create value around intellectual property.
- 01
Practice building
Design, launch and grow a specialist IP valuation, realisation or special-situations capability. For advisory, valuation and professional-services firms
- 02
Specialist access
Bring together the right valuers, agents, lawyers, lenders and buyers around each matter, drawing on long-standing relationships across the market. For any matter that needs the right team
- 03
Restructuring and insolvency
Bring structure and speed to IP-rich restructurings, insolvencies and disposals. For insolvency practitioners, lenders and advisers
- 04
IP finance
Help lenders and investors understand, assess and engage with intellectual property. For banks, lenders, investors and brokers
03Our approach
From first conversation to delivery.
- 01
Understand
We get to the commercial heart of the situation quickly: the assets, the stakeholders, the timetable and what success looks like.
- 02
Define
We scope the requirement precisely, whether that is a practice proposition, a valuation brief, a realisation strategy or a lending framework.
- 03
Assemble
We identify and bring together the right expertise: valuers, agents, lawyers, technical specialists, lenders and buyers, matched to the task.
- 04
Mobilise
We set the process, align the people and stay close to the work so the outcome reflects the strategy.
04Where we are useful
Typical situations.
Launching a new practice
A firm sees demand for IP valuation or realisation work and wants to build a credible, profitable capability.
Accelerating an existing team
A practice has early traction but needs sharper positioning, pricing, process or people.
An IP-rich business in distress
Brands, websites, customer data or technology need to be secured, understood and realised quickly.
A lender reviewing IP
A credit team needs to understand IP as collateral, from screening through monitoring to recovery.
A complex valuation requirement
The purpose, basis and scope of a valuation need to be defined before anyone is instructed.
A disposal opportunity
Owners or office-holders need a clear view of buyers, process and achievable outcomes.
